Two different regimes sit under one section. A home meter is charged only where the consumer is not on the Active Taxpayer List and the bill reaches the threshold. A commercial or industrial meter is charged on a band table whatever your filer status.

What thisdoes not cover
It is accurate for what it models, and everything below changes the answer. None of it can be handled by a form with a few fields in it.
- Sales tax, the fuel price adjustment, the TV licence fee and the other charges on a bill, none of which is this
- Provincial electricity duty, which your province levies separately
- Whether this is a minimum tax or an adjustable one for you, which depends on conditions in the section
- Bills for agricultural connections and other categories on their own footing
- What you can actually claim back, which needs the certificate your electricity company issues
Questions
The questionspeople ask
Is there income tax on electricity bills in Pakistan?
On a home meter, only if you are not on the Active Taxpayer List and the monthly bill is Rs 25,000 or more, in which case 7.5% of the bill is added. A filer with a home meter pays nothing under section 235 at any bill. A shop, office or factory is charged on a band table regardless of filer status.
How much is the tax on a commercial electricity bill?
Nothing up to Rs 500. From Rs 501 to Rs 20,000 it is 10% of the bill. Above Rs 20,000 it is Rs 1,950 plus 12% of the part above Rs 20,000 for a commercial connection.
Does a factory pay the same as a shop?
Only up to Rs 20,000. Above that an industrial connection pays Rs 1,950 plus 5% of the excess, against 12% for a commercial one on the same bill, so the gap widens as the bill grows.
How do I stop this being added to my home bill?
File your return and get onto the Active Taxpayer List. A domestic consumer who is a filer is not charged under section 235 at all, whatever the bill.
Can I get it back?
It counts as income tax you have already paid for the year and is claimed on your return, with the certificate your electricity company can issue. Someone who never files never claims it.

Vehicle Token Tax
The yearly token, which your province sets, plus the federal section 234 tax collected with it. Rates differ sharply between provinces.
Next step
A home meter should be paying nothing.
If you are on the Active Taxpayer List, section 235 does not touch a domestic bill at any amount. If it is on your bill, that is worth fixing.
